Dal 15 Novembre al 14 Dicembre, Nero Gallery presenta Sebastien Malojo con la sua prima personale in Italia dal titolo Imaginary Friends.
La sua personale propone un catalogo di opere: un tuffo nel mondo macabro ed ironico abitato da fantasiosi cartoni e piccoli mostri.
In mostra ci saranno una decina di olii su tela e alcuni tra i suoi più bei disegni.
I dipinti dai colori sgargianti riprendono le tematiche horror e un pò demoniache usando la dicotomia dei cartoons americani dove si scontrano pura immaginazione e ossessiva pazzia.
Le immagini di Tex Avery e di Jack Kirby sono riprese da Malojo e diventano fonte d’ispirazione per i suoi disegni, cosi come le immagini religiose e mitologiche.
Le tonalità dei dipinti hanno una vivacità caravaggesca.
I disegni costruiti con colori più tenui e tonalità più basiche e leggere, riprendono la costruzione di accumulazione fiamminga sia nella molteplicità nell’impianto stilistico, sia nei particolari. Le immagini, che si sovrappongono e si completano come in un quadro di Bosch, hanno temi e ambientazione ripresi dai vecchi film horror, da cui Malojo è sempre stato affascinato e da una visone d'illusione diabolica.

Biografia
Malojo è nato a Bayonne, attualmente vive e lavora a Tolosa.
Si laurea all’Accademia di Belle Arti nel 2005 a Tolosa.
Ha partecipato dal 2004 ad oggi a diverse mostre collettive e personali.

From the 15th of December, Nero Gallery presents Sabastien Malojo’s first solo exhibition in Italy called ‘Imaginary Friends’
He offers a series of paintings: a dip in a macabre and ironic world inhabited by fantasy cartoons.
In the exhibition you will be able to see 10 oil on canvas pieces of which a few are the artist’s masterpieces. Using the dichotomy of American cartoons in which too imagination and obsession meet, the gaudy colors emphasize the horror-theme in the paintings. The images of Tex Avery and Jack Kirby are being re-taken by Malojo and are source of inspiration for his work, just like religious images and myths.
The tonality of the paintings have a ‘Caravaggesque’ vitality to them.
The paintings consist the most basic and soft colors, which reminds one of Flemish color assembly through their similar multiplicity in construction. The images in a painting overlap in a way we know from the work of Bosch. Malojo takes his inspiration from old horror movies by which he has always been fascinated by the diabolic illusion it creates.

Biography
Malojo is born and raised in Bayonne and currently lives and works in Tolouse.
He graduated from the Academy of Art in 2005 in Tolouse.
From 2004 till now, he has participated in many different collective and solo exhibitions,
including Tiny Triffecta (2014) in the Cotton Candy Machine in New York, Monster Monster (2013) in the White Lady Art Gallery in Dublin and in 2012 with Ciou alla Cindy Frey in Courtrai.
